Tano Petroleum survey team working in the field

About us

A Ghanaian company proving a Ghanaian resource

Tano Petroleum is an upstream exploration company. Our work is to establish, with modern technology and disciplined process, whether the acreage we hold can support commercial oil and gas development.

Who we are

Explorers, not promoters

We are deliberately precise about our stage. Tano Petroleum has no production and no revenue — it has acreage, data, technical partners and a defined plan.

The company was formed to pursue a specific conviction: that Ghana’s Western Basin still holds under-explored potential that modern, lower-impact survey technology can identify at a fraction of the historic cost.

Rather than commit early capital to speculative drilling, we invest first in imaging and interpretation — and only then in wells. Our survey design and interpretation are progressed alongside an established London-based technical partner, and structured for independent audit.

Ownership is wholly Ghanaian. Our long-term intention is that value from this resource is added domestically, with local skills and local suppliers built into every phase.

How we work

Principles we hold ourselves to

Evidence over enthusiasm

A lead becomes a prospect only when independent methods agree. We report what the data supports.

Low-impact first

Non-invasive imaging is preferred wherever it can answer the question, protecting sensitive coastal and forest environments.

Transparency with investors

Stage, risk and milestones are stated plainly. No production claims, no implied reserves.

Ghanaian capacity

Local geoscience, survey and support capability is built deliberately, not treated as a compliance box.

Governance discipline

Clear separation of technical, financial and administrative responsibility from the outset.

Safety as a precondition

Field operations are planned around the safety of crews and host communities before schedule.

Leadership

The team

A small, accountable leadership group covering strategy, technical delivery and governance.

Mr. Samuel Darko

Leads company strategy, licence stewardship and investor relationships.

Mr. John Agyei Duodu
